In April 2009 the team relocated trading, research, operations and sales functions to London. Risk management, finance, accounting, business development for NZ and AU and IT remain New Zealand based.
Richard (Jerry) Haworth B.Bus.Sc, ACMA

Jerry has a 23 year career in the financial markets. He was instrumental in the establishment of the futures and options market in South Africa. He served as an Executive Member of the South African Futures Exchange. He also traded government bonds for a large discount house before being appointed Head of Equity Derivatives for one of South Africa’s largest and most successful merchant banks, Investec Ltd.
In 1996, Jerry founded Peregrine Holdings Ltd. The company offered a range of services including stock-broking, futures and options broking, pension fund structuring and financial software development to South Africa’s large financial institutions but its main niche was designing derivative strategies for institutional clients normally packaged as a structured note. Peregrine enjoyed phenomenal early success under his management culminating in a stock exchange listing in 1998 in which the value of the company soared over 400% on IPO. In March 2001, Jerry founded 36 South Investment Managers Ltd.

Richard Hollington B.Bus.Sc, CAIA

Richard has 22 years experience in the financial markets, specifically specialising in derivatives. He established the foreign exchange options desk at First National Bank in South Africa (the country's second largest bank) and became the country's first market maker in Rand/Dollar options.
Richard extended the foreign exchange business to incorporate gold hedging for the South African mining houses and market making in long dated currency options for corporate hedging. He was also instrumental in establishing a Rand interest rate swaps desk and a commodity trading desk for the bank.
Richard emigrated to Australia in 1997 and helped to set up the gold derivatives desk at Commonwealth Bank in Sydney. He left CBA to move to New Zealand and began trading with Jerry until formalising 36 South in March 2001. Richard is approved by the FSA to perform a controlled function.

Joining 36 South in March 2006, Anthony has 21 years experience in the financial markets working for a variety of global financial organisations including Deutsche Bank (formerly Bain & Co.) and HSBC in Sydney, Credit Lyonnais in Tokyo, and Bank of New Zealand in Wellington. Experience lies across directional and relative value trading, fixed income and credit, foreign exchange, commodities and derivatives.
In addition to his role as a member of the investment committee of 36 South, Anthony is Chief Investment Officer of Pure Capital Limited, a quantitatively-driven investment management firm based in New Zealand, and Chairman of the New Zealand Absolute Return Association (NZARA), the organisation representing the alternative investment management industry in New Zealand. Anthony holds a Master of Applied Finance degree from Sydney’s Macquarie University.

Maya joined 36 South from Barclays Global investors (“BGI”) where she was an investment strategist with the Client Solutions Group. Prior to that Maya was a member of the Financial Institutions Group at BGI, where she took a lead role in marketing and selling BGI’s investment capabilities to wealth managers in the UK, Europe & the Middle East. Maya joined BGI in 2006 from HSBC Private Bank (UK), where she worked as a Private Client Executive within the Europe & Middle East team.
Maya received her B.A in Economics at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon, and holds an MSc. in Banking and International Finance from Cass Business School, London.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Business Science degree from Rhodes University in South Africa at the end of 2002, Michael managed a foreign exchange transfer company in Zimbabwe before moving to New Zealand at the end of 2003.
Michael then worked as the Sales and Business Development Manager for an HR Consulting company in Auckland before joining 36 South in April 2006. He has passed the US National Commodity Futures Examination (Series 3) and is approved by the FSA to perform a controlled function.

Monique has 15 years experience in the insurance and finance industry. After moving to New Zealand in 1994, she worked for AMP (a large insurance and wealth management company) before joining 36 South Investment Managers where she is responsible for the settlements, accounts and administrative functions of the company.

Catherine graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Health Science in 2004 before moving to London and working for the NHS as an office manager. She returned to Auckland and joined 36 South in a temporary role in 2006. From early 2007 she worked for Macquarie Private Wealth as an advisor assistant before returning to London in October 2008 where she was with GLG Partners in a client services role until returning to 36 South in May 2009.

Hamish Limbrick B.C.M

Hamish Limbrick has over 13 years experience in information systems and has previously overseen IT deployments in the trading environments of many of the world’s largest financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Enron, Bear Stearns and Cazenove.
Hamish designed and implemented the trading and operational systems for start-up hedge fund manager Pure Capital Limited, of which he is still a Director.
Hamish has a Bachelor of Commerce and Management (Finance and Computing) from Lincoln University, is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and holds technical certifications from Cisco Systems and Novell. Hamish has also achieved the US National Commodity Futures Examination (Series 3) and Branch Manager's Examination (Series 30).
